By Taylor Koon on February 19, 2013

No, it’s not too late to find housing for next year!

Freshman at The Ohio State University are required to live on campus and have a meal plan, so they do not have any worries when it comes to finding a place to live and budgeting food costs. However, when those students reach their sophomore year, they are faced with a tough decision. For those students who decide to live off-campus, there are multiple websites that allow users to research future homes and narrow down their choices before they actually visit them.

 1. Harrison Apartments

Harrison Apartments owns a large building on Lane Avenue with multiple apartments available to students. Harrison Apartments receives excellent reviews, but their apartments start around $600 and only increase from there. If rent cost is a major factor in your decision, Harrison Apartments may not be for you. However, if your budget has a little room, Harrison Apartments offers very nice homes.

 2. University Apartments

University Apartments is a well-known agency that offers many options regarding location. It is possible to find reasonably priced apartments, but it is also easy to find very expensive ones. A former tenant said that she had a decent experience with University Apartments. She rented the apartment knowing that it would be a short-term home, and she not did experience much difficulty during her time there. Many people recommend University Apartments, but there are so many tenants that it may be difficult to receive personalized attention.

3. Shelby Management

Shelby Management offers a few different options, but not quite as many as other agencies. It is a smaller business than most, but it offers a more personal feel in comparison to larger companies. They also offer many apartments that include utilities in the rent, which is a great option for students on strict budgets.

4. Buckeye Real Estate

Buckeye Real Estate offers very many choices regarding apartments and there are many different locations available. Former tenant Carla states that Buckeye Real Estate was a “fine” experience for her. Not wonderful, but not terrible either. Overall, Buckeye Real Estate is a solid choice when considering which agency to contact.

 5. The Ohio State University Off-Campus Website

On the university’s off-campus website, students can easily search apartments from multiple agencies. It is a great starting point, but there is so much information on this site that it can be difficult to navigate after the initial search process.

Deciding on an apartment can be both stressful and tedious, but the use of the internet can help this process move more quickly. There are many factors that can affect a person’s decision, but with many options it should be easy to find the perfect place to call your future home.
